OBITUARY: Preston County Journal. Kingwood, WV Thur., July 17, 1903. Excerpt -- Lydia Albright Bishoff, wife of the late Samuel Bishoff, was born March 15, 1810, and died July 6, 1903, age 93 years, 4 months and 9 days. She united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Samuel Bishoff on Feb. 5, 1831. To this union were born nine children. Seven of these children still survive, but two, Susan the 1st, and David the 6th have gone over deaths cold stream. Sister Bishoff and her husband and William Bishoff and his wife, Catherine, were the early founders of Methodism at Albright. These four established a prayer and preaching place in an old school house on the hill and their faithful efforts soon resulted in establishing and fully organizing a Methodist class at Albright. But God prospered and increased them both in number and power until the school house was inadequate so they and their associate class mates built the church that still stands as a monument for faithful service. May God grant that those who still worship in this house may follow her as she followed Christ. Funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Rev. Feather and Falkner, after which she was laid to rest in the Albright Cemetery. --W. M. Shultz
