About Lydia Connelly Hawbaker
Mrs. Lydia C. Hawbaker, daughter of Martin M. and Mary Connelly Nissly, was born July 19, 1880, near Dallas Center, and spent her entire life in this community. Since 1956, she has been living with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John O. Wingert, where she passed away Saturday morning, July 23, 1966, at the age of 86 years and 4 days. She united with the Old Order River Brethren in September 1899, and remained a faithful member until death. On November 22, 1900, she united in marriage with Samuel A. Hawbaker, who preceded her in death by 20 years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, and two grandsons. She is survived by her six children: Mary (Mrs. Levi Keller), Martha (Mrs. John O. Wingert), Adin, and Ezra, all of Dallas Center; Fanneye (Mrs. Raymond T. Keller) of Greenville, Ohio; and Paul, of Waukee; two sisters, Susan (Mrs. William Kniesly) of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Mary (Mrs. Herman Baldner, Jr.) of Dallas Center. Other survivors include three sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
