Máel Coluim mac Donnchadh, 5th Earl of Angus

Maol Choluim, Earl of Angus, ruled roughly 1214 - 1240, is the fifth attested post-10th century Mormaer of Angus, and the last Gaelic ruler of that province.

He married Mary, daughter and heiress of Humphrey de Berkeley. They had one son, Richard, and a daughter, Matilda who married three times:

  1. John Comyn (d. 1242)

  2. Gilbert de Umfraville, Baron of Prudhoe, Northumberland, and

  3. Richard de Dover, Baron of Chilham, Kent and a grandson of King John of England (Dover died between 1247 - 1261), with issue.

When Maol Choluim died without a living male heir in c.1240, the Mormaership passed to his French successors.

Female Countess Maud of Angus Maud was born in 1215 in Angus (Forfar), Scotland.1   She died at the age of 46 in 1261 in Prudhoe, Northumberland, England.1
