Madeline Ferry was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania to Theodore Ferry and Elizabeth Kennard. Because of a job transfer for her father, she went to high school in Rutherford, NJ. Here she met her future husband, George McIlwaine. After their marriage and his departure for the war, she worked for the aircraft manufacturer Curtiss Wright. When the war ended, she and George raised their family in Wayne, NJ. She was a stay-at-home mother to their 3 children. George developed a rheumatic heart condition and died at the age of 45. A few years later, Madeline married Walter Klammer who was a local poultry farmer. She helped manage the farm until their retirement. Before her death, they resided in Montville, NJ. JGM
