Mahawela Mohottala (Mahawelatenne Mohattala of Kolonne Korale)

Mohottala of Mahawelatanne (b:1630 AD) was a minister under Raja Singhe II who rebelled against the king and migrated south from the north of Kollone Korale and settled down near Kitulampitiya Galle, in Portugese territory.One member of the family settled in kollone. The Portugese had a fort near Balangoda.

Mahawella Kankanange Siekoe son of Mohottala took the name Philippoe De Silva at baptism to become a catholic and lived in Kitulampitiya Galle. Manikoe De Zilva son of Siekoe gave the name De Zilva Goonetilleke to his children by his first marriage and De Zilva Wikramanayake to his son Johannes by the second marriage and they were residence of Galle.
