From Old Eliot: A Monthly Magazine of the History and Biography of the Upper Parish of Kittery, Now Eliot, Volumes 1-3 (Google eBook) 1901. Page 169

Charles Frost 2, (Nicholas:.) succeeded to the homestead of his father in Eliot. He was said to have been the fifth child of European parents, born in the Piscataqua Plantation. He became a distinguished man in civil and military life. The events of his career are given in Williamson's History, the publications of the Maine Historical Society, and other pages. He passed through the grades of military office from an Ensign to the Commander of the Militia of the Province. He was frequently in actual service against the Indians. He held Town and County offices; was a member of the General Court of Massachusetts, and for several years was one of the Executive Council.

He wjis dutiful as a Christian as well as in his relations of Soldier and Statesman. Was constant in his attendance on Public Worship. Sabbath morning, July 4, 1697, he expressed an unusual desire to go to the wonted house of worship,—a distance of five miles from his home. His wife and two sons, Charles and John, accompanied him. On the homeward return, and within a mile of his dwelling, a volley of musketry was suddenly discharged at them, by a party of ambushed Indians. Major Frost and two others, residents ol Eliot, were brought to the ground. His two sons had passed ahead and escaped. They went out, and gathered up the remains of the dead. The body of their father was buried a few rods north of his house. The grave was covered with a wrought granite stone, and it remains to this day.

He married Mary, the daughter of Joseph Bowles, Esq., ot Wells, 1666. She died November n, 1704, aged 67.
