Biography Major in Arnold's Company, and went to Quebec. Listed in DAR Patriot Index Scammon Scl ME, served in Revolutionary War. "He accompanied Arnold in his expedition to Canada, and it is said that he had the courage to saw off the pickets of an English fort to enable the soldiers to pass over the barracade. He afterward served in the engineer department of the army and did not return to Saco until after the close of the Revolution. He was town treasurer from 1762 to 1771."

"He settled in Pepperellborough, now Saco, Maine. In early life he was one of Captain John Lovewell's men in the memorable Indian fight at Pequaket, and was engaged in other expeditions. He was in the ill-fated excursion of Benedict Arnold, through the wilds of Maine, in the winter of 1775-76. After the Revolution he did not return to Saco. He was married at Biddeford, ME, July 4, 1754, to Hannah (Plaisted) Scammon, widow of James Scammon." [1]
