Major Nelson Anderson, was born between 1700-1710 in New Kent County, Virginia and died in 1786 in Hanover County, Virginia. In 1735 he acted as guardian for his first cousin, Robert Anderson, son of David Anderson. He appears in Sarah Anderson's precinct of St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co., Virginia between 1735-1767. In 1735 he acted as the guardian for his first cousin, Robert Anderson, son of David Anderson. In the 1771-1772 tax rolls he is called Captain Nelson Anderson. In 1779, as Captain Nelson, he was appointed to solicit contributions in his district of St. Paul's Parish. His Children were, William, Anderson, executor of father's will and received father's land in Hanover County. On November 8, 1775 he was appointed Sheriff of Hanover Co., on and off through his death in 1790. He was known as "Old Field billy." Elizabeth Anderson m. Waddy Thomson, Sr.
