MAJOR CHARLES PASLEY
Major Charles Pasley is the eldest child of Charles Pasley and his wife Jean Carlyle. He was born on 2 January 1781, probably at Langholm in Eskdale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, since his baptism was registered there on 11 January 1781. His baptismal record reads as follows: "Charles son to Charles Paisley of Lisbon and Jean Carlisle his spouse. George Malcolm in Burnfoot in the fathers absence being sponsor. born 2d" [National Records of Scotland, Langholm Baptisms, 1668-1819, reference OPR.839/1]
Marriage
Major Charles Pasley married Mary McTavish (1796-1819) in 1817. They were married at Marylebone Church in London. Charles, who resided at Gloucester Place, Portman Square, London, was the nephew of Admiral Sir Thomas Pasley. His first cousin, Sir John Malcolm, had previously appointed him Chargé d'affaires to Fat′h-Ali Shah Qajar of Persia on the part of the Supreme Court of India. Mary was given away by her guardian and first cousin, Simon McGillivray. Mary McTavish died at Sidmouth in Devon. Wikipedia: Simon McTavish
