• Son of Sir Hew Clifford Hamilton-Dalrymple of North Berwick, 9th Bt. and Ann Dorothea Dyce Nicol Thorne.
• Married Lady Anne-Louise Mary Keppel, daughter of Walter Egerton George Lucian Keppel, 9th Earl of Albemarle and Diana Cicely Grove, on 25 September 1954.
• Educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England.
• Commissioned in 1944 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Grenadier Guards.
• Succeeded to the title of 10th Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co. Haddington [N.S., 1698] on 12 March 1959.
• Held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of East Lothian between 1964 and 1973.
• Drector of Scottish and Newcastle Breweries Ltd between 1967 and 1986.
• Recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Office on 7 June 1968.
• Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of East Lothian between 1973 and 1987.
• Invested as a Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1974.
