Sydney Arthur Hunn was born 31 Oct 1889 in Strathalbyn, South Australia. He is the son of John Hunn and Dorcas Elizabeth Morgan.[1]

Age 26 Sydney left for WW1 with the 8th Infantry Brigade and later joined the 32nd Infantry Battalion. Australian Imperial Force Embarkation Roll 1914-1918

ON ACTIVE SERVICE. CAPTAIN S. A. HUNN, M.C.[2] Captain Sydney A. Hunn, who has been awarded the Military Cross, is a son of the late Mr. John Hunn, and left South Australia in November, 1915, as second lieutenant. Prior to his enlistment he was was for some years with Messrs. William Haughton & Co., of Currie street.

ROYAL VICTORIAN ORDER.[3] To be a Member of the Fourth Class of the Royal Victorian Order:— Major Sydney Arthur HUNN, O.B.E., M.C., 32nd Battn. Major Sydney Arthur Hunn. M.V.O., O.B.E., M.C., is a son of the late Mr. John Hunn, rose to a captaincy in the 32nd Battalion, in which he left South Australia as a second lieutenant. He was subsequently made a G.S.O. in the Australian Army Corps. Prior to enlistment he was a woolbuyer for Messrs. W. Haughton and Company, Currie street.

He married Dorothy Hobbs in 1921 in Perth, Western Australia.[4]

DEATHS HUNN. [5]— On February 23, Major Sydney Arthur Hunn, M.V.O., O.B.E., M.C., Croix de Guerre, beloved husband of Dorothy (of Cottesloe, W.A.), loving father of John and Rosemary, aged 52 years. No flowers by request.

W.A. MAN FOUND DEAD.[6] MELBOURNE, Feb. 23.—Found lying on a seat in the Botanic Gardens today, the body of Major Sydney Arthur Hunn (52), of Cottesloe Western Australia, was taken to the City morgue. There was a bullet wound in his right temple and near his body the police found an automatic pistol.
