Former Smoot Resident Dies Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 15 in the Smoot Ward chapel for Mrs. Malinda Jennett (Nettie) Kingston, 73, former resident, who died Saturday at Brigham City, Utah. Bp. Leon Taggart was in charge. Burial was in the Smoot Cemetery. An obituary will be published next week. Among the relatives attending the funeral of Nettie Kingston form out of the valley were Mr and Mrs Kingston of Oakland Calif., Mr and Mrs Lee Moffett of Smithfield, Utah, Mr and Mrs Fred Semon and children of Brigham City Mr and Mrs Fred Kingston of an air base in Louisiana, Mr and Mrs Herrick Drake and Mrs Maria Hymas of Burley, Idaho. Services Held for Nettie Kingston Services were held Wednesday, Jan 15 in the Smoot Ward Chapel for Malinda Lennett "Nettie" Kingston, 73, of Smoot. Malinda Jennettt Moffett Kingston was born March 23, 1884 at Porterville, Utah. She was the daughter of Moses S. Moffett and Nancy M. Porter Moffett. When she was a little girl the family moved to Fairview, Wyo. Later they moved to Smoot where her father was postmaster. It was here she met John T. Kingston and they were married Dec 29, 1905 in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their first home in Smoot. Later they moved to Burley, Idaho where they lived on a dry farm for three years. While there they lost most of their livestock so they returned to Smoot. Mrs Kingston was a very devoted church worker and spent much of her time helping in the different church organizations. She worked in the temple whenever the opportunity came to her. she was a willing person to help with the sick and many hours were spent in helping doctors as a midwife. She cared fro Sina Wilber, an old Smoot resident for many years before her death. She also cared for two of Lavor Kingston's children when they were without a mother. To Mr and Mrs Kingston were born two son and two daughter. Her husband and one daughter (Lenoe) preceded her in death. Surviving are her two sons, John D. Kingston, Smoot; and Willard L. Kingston, Oakland Calif.; her daughter Venna K. Semon, Brigham City; one sister Maria Jensen Hymas; three brothers Golden Moffett, Parley Moffett and Lee A. Moffett. Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Bp. Leon Taggart of Smoot Ward conducted the services. Interment was in the Smoot Cemetery.
