About Mamie Bard
Background Information
Mamie Bard, née Brownstein was born between 1895 and 1899 in New York to Joseph Brownstein and Rose Brownstein, both of whom were Eastern European immigrants. Mamie and her siblings were the first American born children to come of the Brownstein family. She was a mother of four, wife to Samuel Bard, and was said to be a strict but compassionate woman. Being that her eldest child, Nathaniel Bard was born in 1919, it is safe to say that she and her husband married in the late 1910's.
Death and Legacy
Although Mamie died on September 13, 1957, at a relatively young age of 58 or 62, she was preceded by her husband who died on May 1, 1953. Even so, she was survived by all of her children, siblings (and their families), and a plethora of grandchildren. She is buried at Mount Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, New York alongside her husband, children, and numerous relatives.
