About Mansell Ivor Bassett/Barron
Adopted by his mother's second husband Ralph Barron, thus changing his last name from Bassett to Barron.
Quit the Pollockville high school in the 10th grade, then worked on the Barron ranch for the next four years, after which he went to Calgary to learn how to fly.
In 1958, Mansell moved his family to Kamloops from Chilliwack, founding Kamloops Aircraft, Ltd., which he ran until retirement in 1974.
Was a past President of Kamloops North Rotary Club and an active member of Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.
Wrote numerous articles for aviation publications.
On September 16, 1972, Mansell was contacted by the daughter of his birth father's second marriage, an unknown half sister who introduced him to a half brother and many nieces and nephews in the USA. He'd been told as a young child by his mother that his father had died and, until a bit over a year before the contact, the second family had not known of Mansell either. His half sister Nadine was determined to find him from the time that she learned of him. All three siblings grew up with step-fathers and never knew their shared birth father.
