About Marcella Nichole Hoff

The branches of my family tree spread out far and wide. You will find me messing around in the World Tree all over the globe. This has made doing genealogy as a hobby most interesting and entertaining. Most of the branches of my direct ancestors arrived in the New World as colonists. They can be found in New Spain, New France, New Amsterdam, and in New England. In the original thirteen colonies, I have so far located direct ancestors that colonized Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, Maryland, New Hampshire, Virginia and New York.

In addition to the colonists, I do have one branch that comes from the German migration of the 1800s and a few that lead to the Native American tribes of the Southwest. I have found direct ancestors that were of the Zuni, Tiwa, Tano, Aztec, Incan, and Apache tribes through my father. I have also found ancestors of the Piscataway and Cherokee tribes through my mother.

My ancestors come from many religions including Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim. I have found it interesting to see how history and religion intertwine.

My MTDNA haplogroup is X2B5. My Autosomonal DNA test claims that I am:

28% European South - Primarily located in: Italy, Greece Also found in: France, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia, Romania, Turkey, Slovenia, Algeria, Tunisia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo

22% Ireland/Scotland/Wales - Primarily located in: Ireland, Wales, Scotland Also found in: France, England

18% Scandinavia - Primarily located in: Sweden, Norway, Denmark Also found in: Great Britain, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, the Baltic States, Finland

12% Iberian Peninsula - Primarily located in: Spain, Portugal Also found in: France, Morocco, Algeria, Italy

11% Native American - Primarily located in: North America, Central America, South America

4% Europe West - Primarily located in: Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein Also found in: England, Denmark, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic

2% Africa North - Primarily located in: Morocco, Western Sahara, Algeria, Libya Also found in: Libya, Tunisia, Chad, Portugal

1% Europe East - Primarily located in: Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia

and less than 1% of Finland/Northwest Russia and Asia East

I guess this makes me a genetic mutt, but I think it makes it more fun.
