About Marcus Elgi
Marcus Egli, the first of the name in Pennsylvania, was born about the year 1690, in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland, not far from the city of Berne, from whence he and his family immigrated to America prior to 1740. He took up a tract of land in Cocalico Township, Lancaster Co., Pa, where he died September 1767, leaving a wife, Elizabeth, and five children.
