MRS R. D. BARTLETT Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. today (Thursday), at the Friends church in Galax, for Mrs. Josie Trimble Bartlett, who died at 1 a. m. Tuesday, May 1, in Akron, Ohio, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lem Hodges. Mrs. Hodges, who was the wife of R. D. Bartlett, formerly resided in the Galax section. The body was brought here from Akron by Vaughan-Guynn hearse, arriving Wednesday afternoon. Surviving Mrs. Bartlett are the following sons and daughters: Lester Bartlett, Oldtown; Eddie Bartlett, Hillcrest Court, Galax; Clarence Bartlett, Hillsville; Mrs. W. R. Bartett, Galax; Mrs. Bob Davis and Mrs. Lem Hodges, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Emmett Smith, Low Gap, N. C.; and Mrs. H. P. Pruitt, Newport News. Conducting the funeral were the Rev. Mrs. E. G. Key, Yad-kinwlle, N. C., a former pastor of the Friends church here, and Rev. Herbert R. Carlton, pastor of the First Baptist church, Galax. Interment was in the McKenzie cemetery. A number of brothers, sisters,grandchildren and great-grand children also survive.
