From Research by Jay Clements: Margaret Cowan Bryson, lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, a mile or so east of the white temple in the last picture (the temple is a recreation built in 2002). She had crossed the Atlantic from Glasgow (earlier being driven out of Ulster, Northern Ireland for being a convert) in January 1843 to New Orleans. There, got on a paddle wheeler, got stuck in the ice at St. Louis and had to wait a week for a thaw. She arrived in late February and was assigned to the Hyrum Smith family as a servant, possibly living at their farm (red brick house) or house in town. Hyrum Smith was the brother of the prophet Joseph Smith). We aren't sure how she ended up there, but her way was paid for by the church's emigrant fund. She then drove their oxen team across the plains when the Mormons were driven out of Nauvoo in winter 1846, and arrived in Utah in 1848 at age 50.
