Margaret Mitchell, Born: ABT. 16 NOV 1718 in South Carolina, is named as the spouse of Henry Cassels in the DAR Patriot Index.
:Marriage
Their securely identified children include:
(NOTE: The South Carolina Loyalist James Cassels 1736-1798, who married a "Miss Mann," WAS NOT a member of this family
:Research Notes :
Margaret was originally attached as a daughter of James Mitchell (q.v.), but the Mitchells of Haverhill are well documented in Essex Co., Mass. vital records of the time and no daughter namedMargaret is evidenced. Since that couple married in 1719, most of their children were born in Massachusetts in the 1720s, which makes it rather unlikely that they had an unknown daughter who married in South Carolina just 15 years later in 1734. Considering how common the surname Mitchell is, this connection is certainly spurious and has been removed.
