Margaret (Livingston) Chesnick, of New Kensington, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Allegheny Valley Hospital, after a lingering illness. She was born June 13, 1925, in Glasgow, Scotland. She was raised in Scotland and worked at McClelland's making British Army uniforms during World War II. She was also a caregiver and cook at East Park Home Orphanage. She met her future husband, Norman, while he was stationed in Glasgow. She immigrated to the United States on March 17, 1947, and she and Norman were married April 21, 1947. She was a member of Grace Community Church in Lower Burrell, where she was a former member of the church choir and the former custodian for 13 years. Margaret was a professional seamstress in the Alle-Kiski Valley for many years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, singing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Norman on Sept. 28, 2003; her father, John Livingston and her mother, Margaret Bell Livingston. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Allport, of New Kensington, and her son, Scott (Sharon) Chesnick, of Fairfield; her five grandchildren, Erin and Jacob Allport, of New Kensington, and Ingrid, Ian, and Ilsa Chesnick, of Fairfield; her brother, John (Margaret) Livingston, of England, and her brother, Andrew (Crissy), of Scotland, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace Community Presbyterian Church, Lower Burrell, with her pastor, the Rev. Ken Foust, officiating. Burial will be private. The family requests memorial contributions to Grace Community Presbyterian Church, 2751 Grant St., Lower Burrell, PA 15068.
