Margaret Mary Mulligan "Peggy" Gibbens, age 83, and a resident of Bay St. Louis, MS, passed away Friday, August 28, 2005, at her home in Bay St. Louis due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Gibbens was born in Beloit, WI on March 25, 1922. She had been a resident of Los Angeles, CA, River Ridge, LA, and a resident of Bay St. Louis for the past 32 years. She owned and operated her own decorating business and was instrumental in founding the Hancock Historical Society and served as past president and historian. Mrs. Gibbens was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Anna Mulligan and a brother Donald Edward Mulligan. Mrs. Gibbens is survived by her husband Elmore Morgan Gibbens of Bay St. Louis; her children, Margaret Gibbens Handy of River Ridge, LA, Susan Gibbens Fish of Voorhees, NJ, Jeanne Gibbens Cook of Mandeville, LA, Michael Elmore Morgan Gibbens of Waveland, MS, Patrick Charles Gibbens of Covington, LA, Thomas Benton Gibbens of Little Rock, AR; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A private funeral service will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Bay St. Louis, MS. Burial will be held at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Bay St. Louis, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions may be made to Quality Hospice of the Gulf Coast, 999 Howard Ave., Suite I, Biloxi, MS 39533.
