Margaret Hankinson

Please note:

Captain Joseph Hankinson, son of Colonel Aaron Hankinson, had only one wife. His wife was Margaret Goble, daughter of Gershom Goble. Margaret's sister Hannah married Joseph's 1st cousin Joseph. There is always confusion in many trees concerning Joseph and Margaret because there are two Joseph and they married sisters.

Joseph, the cousin, was the son of William Hankinson and Susannah Dewitt. William was the brother of Colonel Aaron. Obviously, both Josephs were named for their grandfather Joseph.

Joseph HANKINSON, b. 21 Mar 1765, Baskingridge, Somerset Co., NJ, occupation Cpt., d. 26 Apr 1838, buried: Marlsboro Cem., Warren Co., NJ. Or b. Rowland Mills, NJ.

He married Margaret GOBLE, b. 1764, Baskingridge, Somerset Co., NJ, (daughter of Gershom GOBLE and Ann ROY) d. 1844, buried: Marlsboro Cem., Warren Co., NJ.

Children:

i Mary HANKINSON, b. 17 Feb 1789, Frelinghuysen, Warren Co., NJ, d. 1831, buried: Marksboro Presb. Cem., Warren Co., NJ. Or d. 26 Dec 1872 (Pioneer Fam of NW NJ.; FTM v.18 #1541 gives same.)

She married Isaac LANNING Jr., b. 19 Dec 1783, Frelinghuysen, Warren Co., NJ, (son of Isaac LANNING Sr. and Mary Lavina HOWELL) d. 8 Oct 1848, buried: Marksboro Presb. Cem., Warren Co., NJ. Isaac: FTM v.21 #1335.

ii Phebe HANKINSON, b. 11 Oct 1789, d. 14 Oct 1813, buried: Yellow Frame Cem., Warren Co., NJ.

She married Richard ARMSTRONG, b. 3 Sept 1783, Hardwick Twp., Sussex (now Warren Coo., NJ, (son of George ARMSTRONG and Sarah HUNT) d. 29 Oct 1813, Sussex Co., NJ, buried: Yellow Frame Cem., Warren Co., NJ.

iii Aaron HANKINSON. Is this the Aaron b. c.1786 M. to Christina?

iv Anne HANKINSON.

She married Cornelius ROBBINS, 21/6 Feb 1811, in Sussex Co., NJ.

26. Daniel L. HANKINSON, b. 30 Dec 1792, Nova Scotia, CAN, occupation tanner/farmer. Res. MN. 1850 Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI Fed census, p.348-9, fam #114; 1860 Paris, Kent Co., MI Fed census.

He married Sarah ANDERSON, c. 1820, in Weymouth, Digby Co., Nova Scotia, CAN, b. c. 1804, N.B., d. 1872. Sarah: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/o/l/John-E-Colegrove/..., p.4 gives her surname as STANLEY.
