Margaret Carney Kennedy was the mother of seven children. After the birth of her oungest Helen, she died, I think a few days after the birth. Her husband was left with a newborn and many small children. Alice, the second born, had some type of mental disability and I understand from her daughter Margaret that her mother made arrangements before she had Helen, to place Alice in an institution. Alice entered at about age 4 and live there until she died in Neward, NJ in December of 1993.
The oldest child, John went to live with grandparents Carney and the Carney aunts who raised him in Schenectady, NY. I understand Leo worked for the railroad and so John could take the train back to visit his father and siblings very often.
