Her daughter, Margaret Jane Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Vaughn Cross, shared memories with her brother, William Alexander Vaughn and his family...…. in Villa Gove, Illinois, in 1952. She brought several other relatives from Virginia with her on this visit. She and her brother clarified relationship to the Candlers (half-siblings), and their brothers, Payton Winfield Scott Vaughn, John Henry Marshall Vaughn, James Garland Vaughn. She also explained why they were given the last name, VAUGHN. They were given the last name of their grandfather, her father. She was a widow, since her husband, John Kenney, had not returned from the Civil War, in which he was killed. All of this information was received from her mother, her father (John Henry Candler), and her step-mother, Rachel Suits Candler, while she and her brothers lived with the Candler family after Margaret Jane's death..
