Extract from local paper co-concerning Margaret's death - January 1904 On Saturday morning last the life of Mrs Milroy ebbed peacefully away inher residence in St John Street, Creetown, at the advanced age of 94years. The coincidence was somewhat singular and remarkable that herdeath took place on the anniversary of her birth. Through her death,Creetown and the parish of Kirkmabreck has lost the oldest inhabitant. She lived during the reign of five sovereigns and had a good recollectionof the last four reigns. Her husband, Mr William Milroy (Should beAlexander!), predeceased her upwards of forty years ago. Subsequently MrsMilroy and the then younger members of her family came to Creetown whereshe soon gained the respect and esteem of all she came in contact with.In every respect she was a real typical Scotchwoman. To the extreme limitshe possessed a quite inoffensive nature and most obliging disposition, while her pleasing manner and intelligence and shrewdness adorned herlife and good character in a particular degree. She retained awonderfully retentive memory almost to the last and frequently comparedthe long years gone by with the present, and her narratives to those whoheard them formed an interesting treat. She leaves a large grown-upfamily of sons and daughters, all occupying good social positions intheir respective spheres. The remains of the deceased were interred inKirkmabreck Churchyard on Tuesday and the funeral, which was a publicone, was largely attended, many being present from considerable distancesto pay their last tribute of respect to her worth and memory.
