Margaret (Peg) Allebach Groff passed away quietly at the Lutheran Community at Telford on January 20, 2016 at the age of 88. Peg was married for 59 years to Vernon D. Groff, who died in 2008.

The fifth of six siblings, Peg was born in Souderton on June 30, 1927, to Charles and Jenny Allebach. She graduated from Souderton High School in 1945 and married Vern, a journalist, in 1948. In 1962 they and their children moved to Suffern, NY, when Vern got a job with the New York Times. On his retirement, in 1976, they moved back to Pennsylvania, settling in Sellersville.

A homemaker for most of her life, Peg took a job at age 50 driving a school bus for the Pennridge School District, retiring after twenty years.

In high school she stood out as an athlete, particularly on the softball and basketball teams. For nearly all her life, she was an avid tennis player, an energetic gardener, and a fine cook. Peg also loved music. She and her siblings all loved to sing; she was the family alto and also a member of the choir at Zwingli Reformed Church for many years. She was passionate about opera, as well as most other forms of classical music.

Peg is survived by her five sons, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, as well as by her brother Charles Allebach and her sister Florence Momme. Peg will be missed deeply by her family and friends.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 350 Wile Avenue, Souderton, PA 18964. Arrangements are by the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home in Telford.
