Margaret Thompson

I see a problem with the birth & death dates (don't know which is wrong) - but if Margaret died at age 3 the rest of this profile is not accurate! :) Just trying to help and don't have the answer myself!

Margaret appears to be the daughter from John Orton's first marriage (name unknown, suspected to be a Hawley) not of Hannah Orvis:

"John Orton, born in 1647, reached the age at which the young men of the colonies usually married, viz., twenty-one to twenty-six years, about 1670. He married his first wife about this date. She bore him two children, Thomas and Margaret, and died about 1685-6, her name appearing in the church records of 1685." pg.23

"As to who the first wife was, I have no knowledge, but I infer that she was a Hawley, or a connection of the Hawley family from the fact that Lieutenant Joseph Hawley of Farmington, in an exchange of property with John Orton's son, Thomas, about 1710, includes in the "consideration" which he acknowledges, "the love, good-will, and affection which I bear to my friend and kinsman" (Thomas Orton)." pg 23

"We do not know the name of his [John Orton, b. 1647] first wife, the date of his marriage, or the exact dates of the births of his two older children, Thomas and Margaret." pg 22

Also, according to pg. 28 of same, she married John Thompson, Jr. on 11/2/1699 and lived all her life in Farmington, CT. But I can't find the "Relationships" page to enter the marriage date.

The two oldest children are listed in Table 1 on pg 26 of the hardbound copy of this book
