About Margrethe Rebekka Andreassen Nelsen
Gavebrev - Kongsnes 26th May 1890
Underwriter Jens Wilsgaard Kongsnes hereby declare that I am giving ownership of the half of the farm belonging to me - Kaldfarnes at Berg law district with existing houses thus this half of the farm may be after dividing the farm with the part-owner Andreas Andreassen Kaldfarnes - to my daughter Margrethe married to Jørgen Andreassen Kaldfarnes. The gift is made on condition that it is to be my daughter's separate estate, where her husband's creditors can take no claim neither can her husband dispose it without her approval.
Inga Marie writes - Mother woud gather the neighborhood women together to work up things for sale, and would send the money to the missions. If anyone got sick, Mother was always helping in any way she could. She was friendly and good to everyone.
When children got to school age, we had to sit with our ABC book on a foot stool close to the spinning wheel. A knitting needle pointed at the letters made it easier for Mother to follow the reading when she was spinning.
Never waste your God given time by sitting down holding your hands in your lap.
Mother did not show the loss of my father, but I know she spent many sleepless nights thinking ahead and trying to plan things. One day I came home, she was sitting on the bed. She had Dad's coat on, crying her heart out. I cried with her.
When we got married my husband told her to come live with us. We had a very big house. At first I did not mind. Mother always enjoyed being the boss, I was just her little girl.
Mother was always head-strong. None of us knew until many years later that she had diabetes. I am sure she had it even when we were in Norway. One thing I know - it took a Job's patience to get along with her. Maybe her sickness had something to do with that. God bless her, she was a good and kind-hearted as anybody, and a hard worker.
