About Maria Louise Elizabeth Lumpe
The burial records of Zion Lutheran Church say that this baby was burnt in her cradle in the absence of her mother. Several of the elderly German ladies of the congregation who were helping translate Zion's records remembered hearing their parents talk about how awful the baby's death was.
It occurred in the winter when it was freezing cold outside. Someone had placed the baby's cradle near the fireplace to keep her warm. Apparently a spark from the fire ignited her blanket, and she burned to death.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Oct 10 2022, 17:57:52 UTC
