MARIANNA STRATFORD DIES; AGED 88 YEARS Widow of the Late Bishop Stratford Leaves Eleven Children
Mrs. Marianna Stratford, widow of the late Bishop Edwin Stratford, died at 7:35 o'clock last evening at the home, 2184 Jefferson, at the age of 88 years. Death was due to congestion of the kidneys after three months' illness. Mrs. Stratford was born in England, December 6, 1831, and became a member of the Latter-day Saints church when a young woman. She emigrated to Utah in 1861 and has made here home here since that date. Surviving are seven sons, two daughters, and two foster children. There are also fifty-eight grandchildren and fifty-two great-grandchildren. The children are: Edwin A., Jeffe G., Charles H., Frank W., Albert E., Egbert C. and Horace B. Stratford; Mrs. Eliza A. FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD MONDAY Body of Mrs. Marianna Stratford May Be Viewed at Home, 2184 Jefferson
Funeral services for Mrs. Marianna Crabb Stratford, wife of the late Bishop Edwin Stratford, will be held Monday afternoon at the Fourth ward chapel at 2:30 o'clock. The body may be viewed at the residence, 2184 Jefferson Avenue. She was converted to the Mormon faith in England by the man who became her husband. With him she sailed from Liverpool, February 18, 1856 for the United States. After a brief residence in New York, the couple departed for Iowa, in company with other saints, and started from Iowa City for Salt Lake, a march of 1,000 miles. The party arrived in Salt Lake on September 15, 1861. Here the family resided for some time and then moved to Farmington, in Davis County, and later moved to Providence, in Cache County, from which place they came to Ogden in 1872 Ogden Examiner; Ogden, Utah; September 28, 1919; p12.
