Marie Gaudin

Marie Gaudin (born in 1490 or 1495 1 ), who was considered the most beautiful woman of her time 2 , was the first mistress of François I er 3 and the mistress of Pope Leo X 4 . She and her husband, Philibert Babou , himself Superintendent of Finance François I er , were close to the family Medici 5 .

In his interview to Bologna with François I er , December 11, 1515 6 , Pope Leo X gave her a diamond of great price, since called "diamond Gaudin" 2 , 7 , in memory of the favors she had granted him 4 .

She served on the other model for the statue of the Virgin that is in the collegiate church of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Désir, between Tours and Amboise 2 .
