About Marion Christina Ellis, Mrs
Marion was an only child of James Louis Charles Scott and Margaret Edith Beatty. Marion went to St Margaret's Girls College in Christchurch, New Zealand (boarded). She then did Pitman Shorthand and got a job as a shorthand typist. Marion went to live in Wellington where she met Brian Ellis who was in the Merchant Navy. Marion returned to live in Christchurch in approx. 1956/57 when Christina was about 18 months old. Her son Mark Maurice Scott Ellis was born at Lyndhurst Hospital in 1960. Marion's mother died when Marion was about 10 years old. Marion was close to her cousins, Helen Beatty, Iris, Keith, and Bevan Grice, who lived in Ashburton were Marion was born - Pendarves/Seafield. Bevan and Keith are sheep farmers and also breed standard bred trotters - over 60 years of bloodstock - they have been very successful.
