About Marion Ellen Leask
BIRTH: On the birth certificate the matrimonial status of Marion's mum and Dad say Bachelor and Widow rather than the normal married/married. However, they were married. Possibly this is because Marions mother had re-married after the death of her first husband. When Marion was born the family home was 54 Dunlops Road, Thornwood, Bothwell. MARRIAGE: When Marion married in 1912 she was 21 and living at 54 Thornwood Rows, Uddingston. She married William R. B. Leask in the United Free Church Manse, Aikenhead [Scottish GRO ref: 625/1-85].
BIOGRAPHY: Marion had 13 children between 1913 and 1929.
The 1921 census [Scottish GRO ref: 644/02 048/024] shows Maron as aged 30 years and 7 months and born in Bothwell, Glasgow. It also shows her living at 401 Westmuir Street, Parkhead, Tollcross, Glasgow.
At the time of her son George's birth in 1926 she was living at 401 Westmuir Street, Glasgow.
DEATH: Marion died of Bronchopneumonia at the Infectious diseases hospital in Falkirk, aged 74. Her last home was at 5c Mossgiel Road, Cumbernauld, Glasgow.
She was cremated at Daldowie Crematorium, County of Lanark. Two pounds was paid for a memorial inscription on the 25/10/1965. Reciept number 15890. Paid for by Mr William James S. Leask of 35 Elibank Street, Ruchazie, Glasgow. 12 pounds and 10 shillings was claimed from the goverment (death grant) by WJS Leask. The cost of the burial was split 4 ways 32 pounds and 1.5 shillings each. Funeral (Co-op) costs were settled on the 12/10/1965 of 81 pounds 2 shillings and 3 pence for a funeral on the 5/10/1965.[Written on the front and back of a receipt]
