Her second husband's father, Henry Oldys, changed the spelling of the family surname from "Olds" to "Oldys" (still pronounced "Olds") before her husband Robert's birth, apparently in reference to an ancestral spelling. Olds used this spelling until 1931, when he reverted to the original. When she was married to her husband (from 1928 until their divorce in 1930) his surname was still spelled Oldys.
