About Martha Patsy Carley

I am actually researching the roots of the Kerly family in America to find the link between the first William Kerly in America, b. 1592 in England, d. 1670 in Marlborough, MA., to the 2nd William Carley, b. 1633 England, d. 1717 In Lexington, MA., to the 3rd William Kerley, b. @ 1680 in Marlborough, d.in Boston, 1729 and to this William's children. The 3rd William was married in Boston in 1703 to Mary Bowden by the Rev. Cotton Mather and I believe that this is the William that your line and ours through another son, John, stems from. John, b. 1706, had a son Jonathan, b. 1757 in Wilton, CT who was a Rev War hero, sustaining 19 musket ball wounds at the Battle of White Plaines, and he had a daughter named Martha Patty who we believe was named for you William's wife, Martha Patty Carter. The Carter family had bought property in MA from either William 1 or 2, and lived there for many years. __________________________________ The parents of the William who married Martha Patty Carter were William Carley b @ 1682/3? at Marlborough, MA and Mary Bowden Carley, b. 1684 at Saco, now Maine, daughter of John and Grace Bully Bowden who was the son of Capt. Ambrose Bowden who had settled in Saco in the 1640's -- William the Mariner was a seaman, son of Capt. Henry Kerley and second wife Elizabeth Ward, widow of John Howe, II. William and Mary were married in 1703 at Boston by Cotton Mather. William the Mariner died at sea in 1739. Capt. Henry, b 1632 Ashmore, England, son of William the Immigrant, b. 1602 at Ashmore and Ann White Kerly, founder of Sudbury, Lancaster and Marlborough, MA, married Elizabeth White, daughter of Capt. John and Joanna West White at Sudbury in 1654. She was killed in the Massacre at Lancaster in 1676 along with son(s?) William and Joseph(?) and he remarried Elizabeth Ward Howe, daughter of Rev. William and Elizabeth Hall Ward. http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=166&p=surnames.kerley
