About Martha Arizona Higley
She married Charles Stacey Higley May 14, 1900. The couple began their life together in the midst of pioneering a new valley. In 1910, they bought 160 acres at Buenna, Oneida County six miles East of Black Pine, Idaho. Charles built a one room log house and with their three small sons, a cow, a saddle horse, a team of horses and a wagon they moved to their new home. They had no well and Martha hauled water from Daniel Higley's springs. They had 14 children-four daughters and ten sons.
In 1918, the couple bought Daniel Higley's ranch at Black Pine. They lived in the big log house that Daniel built. Martha was the valley's midwife. She brought over 50 babies into the world. Martha had a strong testimony of her church and was a great example to her children and those she came into contact with.
