Samuel was born to john and Frances ____ Hill in Dorchester. One source says he was born and baptized about 1638.[1] Bartlett cited another source, the town records which say he was born in Dorchester in the year 1640.[2] But Bartlett finds a baptismal record from 1638, and for that and other reasons concludes that 1638 seems the more likely birth year.

This Samuel Hill remained in Dorchester except for a short stay on Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor. Was a husbandman and appears to have been poor, as the town gave him assistance on several occasions.[1]

Samuel Hill married Martha ______, about 1667. She died in Dorchester 13 Sep 1715.[1]

Samuel died in Dorchester on 12 Jan 1708-9, intestate.[1]
