About Martha Malone
There is some question of whether Martha's maiden name was King or Tranum. A Reuben Tranum is mentioned in John Malone's estate documents, so Tranum may be Martha's correct maiden name. This is consistent with her last name being recorded as King (a widow) when she married John Malone in 1802. A 1792 marriage record in Virginia exists for a "Patty Traynam" who married a Joseph King. This may not be the same person, since she would have been just 12 years old if the 1780 birth date for Martha Malone is correct. The book "Malone & Allied Families" (p. 196) states that she was the daughter of William and Ann (Toombs) Tranum and the widow of Joseph King.
