About Martha V. Sanderson
Martha was the daughter of Rev. Patrick Perry Lowry and his third wife, Mary Callahan Allen Lowry. Her twin sister of Mary Lowry Jacobs, is also buried at Harpers Ferry. She married Thomas B. Sanderson on Jan. 27, 1903 in Burnt Swamp in Robeson County, North Carolina.
The following was taken from the Feb. 28, 1966 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Mrs. Martha V. Sanderson, 81, of Pembroke, died Saturday in a Hamlet hospital. Funeral services are being held today (Monday) at 3:30 p.m. at Harpers Ferry Baptist church with Rev. Harding and Rev. L. W. Jacobs, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. J. C. Revels, Mrs. Charncy Sampson and Mrs. Wayne Maynor, all of Pembroke, Mrs. J. A. Sampson of Ellicott City, Md., Mrs. J. A. Britton and Mrs. John R. Lowry of Charlotte, and Mrs. Otis M. Lowry of Spring Hope; three sons, M. G. Sanderson of Atlanta, Ga., James C. Sanderson of Buffalo, N.Y., and Tommy B. Sanderson of Lake City, Fla.; also 42 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jacobs and Mrs. Jamie Hatcher, both of Pembroke.
