Martha Wharmby

Moses' first marriage ended in tragedy.

His first wife, Martha, died 2 months before her 25th birthday and 2 months after giving birth to her 2nd child - a daughter Elizabeth.

At that time, they had one other child - a son - Joshua, who was then 22 months old.

Elizabeth died 7 months after her mother's death.

Moses remarried (on May 1, 1882) to Cecilia Jane Harley, a Scotswoman, with whom he had 6 children.

Joshua died at the age of 4 years and 2 months (only 3 months after his father's remarriage and 18 months after the death of his baby sister).
