About Martin R. Damon
GEDCOM Note
Martin Damon was born about 1800, most probably in Manchester, VT. He married Roxalalia (Roxy), surname unknown. His parents, Dimmick and Ruth (Goodenow)Damon moved at some point to Rushford NY and Orwell NY, but it appears Martin married in VT, so he followed his parents to NY, but did not live with them there. By the 1850 census Martin and his family lived in Freedom, Cattaraugus County, NY. He was a stone mason. Lived with his wife Roxy and 11 of his 13 children (2 married before 1850). Son William Henry was the oldest child, and was noted in the Zadock querie. William Henry had 4 children, and was married about 1840, in 1850 lived in Farmersville, Cattaraugus County, NY. All of Williams' children were born in NY, so likely Martin moved to NY before 1840. I also have some more limited descent of Martin, and have his lineage back to John Damon of Scituate. Hopes this helps a bit to answer the Zadock querie. I also have further descent of the 2 brothers of Martin that also married.
