Mary Ann (Bradbury) Shiel, Free Settler "Northampton" 1815

Dennis married Mary Bradbury, daughter of William Bradbury and Elizabeth, on November 10, 1817 in St. Phillip's Church of England, Sydney, NSW.1 Mary was born in 1797 in England, died on June 30, 1852 in Campbelltown, NSW2 at age 55, and was buried in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, Campbelltown NSW. (Beside Dennis).

Marriage Notes: Witnesses to the marriage were Nathaniel Laurence and Sarah Ashwell.

Notes: Mary was the daughter of William Bradbury who was a convict and had been transported to Australia aboard the ship "Guildford". Aboard the "Guilford" was Mary's future husband Dennis Sheil. Mary came to the colony about 4 years after her father and Dennis, as a Free Settler.

Mary's father William died intestate in 1836. His estate which included the Bradbury park Inn was contested in the courts by Mary and his second wife Catherine whom he had only just married before he died. The court ruled in favor of Mary. It was found that William Bradbury's 1st wife elizabeth (Mary's mother) was still alive in England and even thought Mary's husband was found to be drunk and dissolute and William's his 2nd wife Catherine was ten times more depraved and unworthy.

  M    ii. William Dennis Sheil was born on March 16, 1819 in Campbelltown, NSW,4 was baptised on June 13, 1819 in St. Phillip's Church of England, Sydney, NSW, died in 1852 in Ovens Diggings, Ovens Valley, VIC at age 33, and was buried in Ballarat, VIC. 

  F    iii. Mary Sheil was born on February 23, 1820 in Campbelltown, NSW, was baptised on August 27, 1820 in Campbelltown, NSW, died on April 30, 1908 in Wollondibby near Jindabyne, NSW5 at age 88, and was buried on May 3, 1908 in Moonbah Cemetery, NSW Grave 23b. 

  M    iv. Dennis Sheil was born in 1822 in Campbelltown, NSW, died on June 20, 1888 in Picton, NSW6 at age 66, and was buried on June 22, 1888 in Upper Picton, NSW. 

  M    v. James Murray Sheil was born in 1823 in Campbelltown, NSW,7 was baptised on August 19, 1823 in St. Bede's Catholic Church, Appin, NSW, died on June 23, 1898 in Wilton, NSW8 at age 75, and was buried on June 25, 1898 in Catholic Cemetery, Appin, NSW. 

  M    vi. John Joseph Sheil was born on September 16, 1824 in Campbelltown, NSW,9 was baptised on November 1, 1826 in St. Bede's Catholic Church, Appin, NSW, died on August 23, 1908 in Prince Street, Rosedale, VIC at age 83, and was buried on August 25, 1908 in Catholic Cemetery, Sale, VIC. 

  F    vii. Catherine Sheil was born on December 21, 1825 in Campbelltown, NSW10 and died on February 26, 1847 in Appin, NSW at age 21.

  M    x. Francis James Sheil was born in 1830 in Wilton, NSW,15 died on May 3, 1896 in Picton, NSW16 at age 66, and was buried on May 5, 1896 in Catholic Cemetery, Appin, NSW. 

  F    xi. Margaret Sheil was born on April 8, 1832 in Wilton, NSW,17 was baptised on July 16, 1832 in St. Bede's Catholic Church, Appin, NSW, died on September 1, 1877 in Coorong Station, VIC at age 45, and was buried in Coorong Station, VIC. 

  F    xii. Sarah Lucy Sheil was born on June 6, 1833 in Camden, NSW.18 

  M   xiii. Peter Sheil was born on July 28, 1835 in Camden, NSW,19 died on December 22, 1836 in Sydney, NSW at age 1, and was buried in Waverley, NSW.
