About Mary Ann Edelman
NOTE: Bio below is from Find a Grave and has not been verified. The following message was received from Katherine Nappi.
"The profile indicates that Mary’s twin daughters died young. I don’t believe this is true- I am a descendant of one of the twins, Amanda Smith. Amanda married William Elliott around 1860 and raised a large family in the Wilkes-Barre area. Twin sister Mary (also went by Martha?) married William Culp- son of Esther Zimmerman Culp. I think Mary and William were cousins. There was an older sister Sarah Ann, but I’m not sure what happened to her. I DNA matches with connections to Levi Smith (Mary Ann’s first husband), descendants of Abraham Zimmerman, and descendants of Amanda’s twin sister- which has helped me piece this all together."
"I’m wondering whether as a young widow, Mary Ann Zimmerman/Smith/Edelman had to give up her children to the care of others?? It’s curious that they were presumed to have died young."
Mary Ann's birth is determined by census records, and she died after 1898, perhaps near Bloomington, Indiana.

From our family records, we know twin daughters were born, Manda and Martha - half-sisters to my great great grandfather Cornelius, and both died young.
