Obituary- "Mary Virginia “Toots” Mulligan Barnes, 95, of Hart Street, Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009, in the United Hospital Center following a three-month illness.

Mrs. Barnes was formerly employed by Hazel Atlas Glass Factory for 16 years.

She was born in Clarksburg on June 19, 1913, a daughter of the late Charles and Mattie Stealey Mulligan.

She was married to Lloyd G. Barnes on September 25, 1945, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1991.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Dent, West Milford, and Diana Knoll and John, Clarksburg; five grandchildren, Kimberly Baldwin and Steve, Greenville, TX, Kay Evans and Mark, West Milford, Karen Stutler and Travis, Clarksburg, Wendy Richter and Craig, Franklin, WV, and Jonathan “Corey” Knoll, Baton Rouge, LA; six great-grandchildren, Makenna Baldwin, Nicholas Evans, Russell, Ambreah and Abigail Stutler, and Rebekah Richter; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barnes was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having also been preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Charles Mulligan; and two sisters, Beulah Swiger and Mable Lantz.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Duff Street United Methodist Church, the Christian Women’s Temperance Union (WCTU) and the Lucinda Rose Auxiliary No. 573 VFW.

Family and friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Rt. 98, Clarksburg, Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18 at 11 a.m. Reverend Brian Seder will officiate. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens."
