About Mary Ann Hannah Blake

(Researcher Note:
It appears two daughters of Nicholas Sessoms have been confused; one who married Blake and one who married Mitchell.)

Children of NICHOLAS SESSUMS and HANNAH CULMER are:

  1. i. THOMAS SESSUMS, b. Abt. 1677, Surry County, Virginia; d. Bef. 1711, Surry County, Virginia.
  2. ii. HANNAH SESSUMS.
  3. iii. ANN SESSUMS, d. Bef. 1740.

3. HANNAH2 SESSUMS (NICHOLAS1)14,15. She married WILLIAM BLACK.

Notes for HANNAH SESSUMS:

Hannah Sessums, daughter of Nicholas Sessums and Hannah Culmer married William Black as shown in the will of Nicholas Sessums. William Black is not listed in Surry county records after that of the files of Chowan or Bertie Counties North Carolina records where other family members settled.
Other records suggest that William Black died and Hannah married John Mitchell.
Hannah is mentioned as the wife of John Mitchell in a Bertie County deed dated Sept 7, 1724 between John Mitchell and Dennis McLendon.
Hannah is shown as the executrix of the estate of John Mitchell in the Bertie County NC Court of Common Pleas of the 2nd Tuesday 1739. (Book I, page 275).
The estate was divided between the widow and seven orphans in Book II page 283 in the May court of1740. In the November Court of 1740, the division of the estate of Mitchell was returned by Benjamin Warren, John Perry and Nicholas Sessums in Book II page 305.

Children of HANNAH SESSUMS and WILLIAM BLACK (BLAKE) are:

  1. i. HANNAH3 BLACK.
  2. ii. MARY BLACK.
  3. iii. JOHN BLACK.
