CARNEVALE - Mary Frances (Breslin) Carnevale, age 66, of Ada, died peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2010, after a brave and courageous journey with cancer. In 1962 she graduated from Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg, IL. After high school she attended Clark College, then entered the Maryknoll Missionary Sisters for two years. She attended Marquette University, graduating with a B.A. in English. Mary Frances married Gregory in 1969 while both were teaching in the Chicago Public Schools. In 1979, she earned her M.A. degree while teaching in Greece. She and Gregory returned to the Belmont area, where she taught 2nd and 5th grades at Assumption Elementary School, retiring in 2005. Mary Frances was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church until 1993, then St. Alphonsus Catholic Church until 2004, and was presently a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Gregory; children, Anne Gabrielle and Jerry Cusack, Michael Anthony and Kimberly Carnevale of Grand Rapids, and Daniel Patrick and Shelly Carnevale; grandchildren, Claire Carnevale, Olivia Carnevale, Ava Carnevale, Sophia Carnevale, Rocco Carnevale; mother, Mrs. Eileen Breslin, brothers and sister, Michael (Colleen) Breslin, Patrick (Terri) Breslin, Jane Anne (John L.) Mentzer; and nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Frances will be offered on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption BVM Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Milanowski, Rev. Patrick Cawley, Monsignor John Porter, and Rev. Peter Vu presiding. Interment in Assumption Cemetery. A prayer service will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Consolata Missionary Sisters or Faith Hospice. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday and for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Tuesday.
