Buckthal, Mary Emma Scull

Owego: Mary Emma Scull Buckthal, 93 of Owego, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Wilson Regional. Mary was predeceased by her parents, William and Blanche McGrady Scull; Children, Gail Alice, Carl David, and Dale Buckthal; and brother, David Scull. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Walter "Pete"; children, Paul (Helen) Buckthal of Sayre, and Jane (Tommy) Kristersson of Lapeer; daughter-in-law, Elaine Vasilow Buckthal of Tioga Center; grandchildren, Karen A., Sarah E., and Emma L.; and four great grandchildren. Mary volunteered for Meals On Wheels for over 40 years and was one of the founding volunteers in the Owego area. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Union Church in Owego for many years. Mary was a member of the DAR, Beulah Patterson Brown Chapter. She was active leader in the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and 4-H. Mary enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 at First Presbyterian Union Church, 111 Temple Street, Owego with Rev. Parrish Bridges officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 prior to the services at the Church.
