About Mary Butler (Parsons)
Butler, Mary (Parsons) (Memoriam)
Photo
Mary Butler (nee Parsons) In loving memory of Mary Butler who died this time
last year on June 27, 2004. Mary was born in New Westminster (1913) and
spent her childhood in in the U.S. and Canada. Later, as a young woman, she
graduated from nursing and in 1940 she married her true love, Ernie. After
Ernie returned from service overseas, they reared their two daughters,
Dellrae and Joan. The family lived in New Westminster, Kamloops, Prince
Rupert, Kelowna, and Penticton. Mary recalled her many friends and good
times working with hospital auxiliary committees, PTAs, March of Dimes and
the Mental Health Associations. As well, she fondly remembered the many
friends connected with Imperial Oil and Ernie's golf circles. After her
husband's sudden death in 1988, Mary moved to Richmond to be near her
beloved granddaughter, Sarah. Our mother and grandmother, always
intelligent, courageous and loving, requested no memorial service. In
keeping with her lifelong interest in medicine, she willed her remains to
science. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Holy Family Hospital
for their wonderful care. Mary often said that she could not have asked for
more.
