Mary Lou H. Dalluge, 87, of Frazee, died on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Frazee Care Center.

Mary Lou Helen Simon was born to John and Vannie (Mills) Simon on Nov. 20, 1921 in Mount Vernon, S.D. In 1923, her family moved to Mitchell, S.D. She started school in 1927 in Plate, S.D.

The family then moved to Alexandria, S.D., in 1929 and Mary Lou graduated from country school in 1935. She attended high school in Alexandria, Mitchell and Ethan, S.D., and eventually graduated in Emmetsburg, Iowa, in 1939. After graduating high school, she attended Emmetsburg Junior College from 1939-41 and then the University of Northern Iowa until 1942. She worked in Washington, D.C., from 1942-43 and taught school at Ringsted, Iowa, from 1943-45.

Mary Lou was baptized and confirmed on March 28, 1942 at College Hill Lutheran Chapel in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She married Caroll Paul Dalluge on April 13, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, Neb. In 1945, they moved to the Pelican Rapids area, where they farmed until 1973. They lived around Pelican Rapids until 1988. Mary Lou then moved to Vergas until 1997, when she moved into the Frazee Care Center.

Surviving Mary Lou are her children, Evan (Dee) Dalluge, Carol Ann Dalluge, Debbie (Jim) Hoard, Melanie (Jim) Hoffmann, Paul (Bernice) Dalluge, Becky (Steve) Carriera and Rachael (Roger) Svendsgaard; sister, Joan Hereim; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Caroll Dalluge; parents, John and Vannie Simon; and brothers, Milton and John Simon.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, April 27 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, with the Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Knollwood Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
