Biography

Mary Field was born at Providence, Rhode Island on June 1, 1673, daughter of Thomas and Martha (Harris) Field. [1] [2] [3]

Mary married John Dexter who was born at Providence about 1673, only son of Stephen and Abigail (Whipple) Dexter, and together they had 10 children. [1] [3] [4]

The lived on land of his father Stephen Dexter, at Lime Rocks (now Smithfield), where John build a house and had orchards. . [2] [4]

Mary died in June of 1727. [1] [3] and is buried in the North Burial Ground at Providence. [5] Her inscription reads: Here lieth ye Body of Mary ye Wife of John Dexter died in June 1727 Aged 50 years [6]

After her death, he sold his farm to their son John and he moved to Providence where married second, Mary Mason. [1] [3] [4]

John died on April 22,1734 and is buried at the North Burial Ground as well. [7] [1] [5]
